A low-pressure system accompanied by a strong rain front is reaching the central Mediterranean.
Arab Weather - The latest outputs of weather maps indicate a deep low-pressure system moving towards the central Mediterranean region by the end of the week, accompanied by a cold front and clear activity in weather disturbances towards parts of the Balkans and Turkey.
The passage of the cold front is expected to lead to a strong state of atmospheric instability, accompanied by the proliferation of cumulonimbus clouds and heavy to very heavy rainfall at times, especially in coastal and mountainous areas, with a high probability of thunderstorms and hail showers in some areas.
Heavy rainfall is also expected to cause flash floods and a rise in water levels in valleys and low-lying areas, which increases the risk of local flooding, especially in areas that experience heavy rainfall over a short period of time.
The low pressure system is also accompanied by significant wind activity, with strong winds and gusts that may sometimes be severe, leading to sea disturbance and high waves, in addition to stirring up dust in some exposed areas.
Residents in the areas expected to be affected are advised to follow weather updates closely, avoid crossing valleys and flood channels during heavy rainfall, and take precautions against strong winds and thunderstorms.
