Breaking: Saudi Arabia calls on Muslims to look for the crescent moon of Dhu al-Hijjah this evening

The Supreme Court called on all Muslims throughout the Kingdom to look for the crescent moon of Dhu al-Hijjah on Sunday evening, the thirtieth of Dhu al-Qa’dah - according to the Umm al-Qura calendar - the twenty-ninth of Dhu al-Qa’dah of the year 1447 AH - according to the decision of the Supreme Court - corresponding to 17/5/2026 AD.

This came in a statement from the Supreme Court, the text of which follows:
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, and peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and companions, all of them.
In view of what was included in the Supreme Court’s decision No. (206/H) dated 29/10/1447 AH, that Saturday 1/11/1447 AH - according to the Umm al-Qura calendar - corresponding to 18/4/2026 AD, is the completion of the month of Shawwal for the year 1447 AH with thirty days, and that Sunday 2/11/1447 AH - according to the Umm al-Qura calendar - corresponding to 19/4/2026 AD is the first day of the month of Dhu al-Qi’dah for the year 1447 AH; the Supreme Court requests all Muslims throughout the Kingdom to look for the crescent of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah on the evening of Sunday the thirtieth of the month of Dhu al-Qi’dah - according to the Umm al-Qura calendar - the twenty-ninth of the month of Dhu al-Qi’dah for the year 1447 AH - according to the Supreme Court’s decision - corresponding to 17/5/2026 AD.
The Supreme Court requests that anyone who sees it with the naked eye, or with binoculars, inform the nearest court and register their testimony there, or contact the nearest center to help them reach the nearest court.

The Supreme Court hopes that those who have the ability to sight the crescent moon will pay attention to this matter, join the committees formed in the regions for this purpose, and consider the reward and recompense for participating, because it involves cooperation in righteousness and piety, and benefit to all Muslims.
