The aftermath of the floods and landslides continues in several Asian countries, with the death toll exceeding 600 people, while relief efforts continue to help tens of thousands of displaced people.
Storms and heavy rains caused widespread destruction
Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand experienced widespread devastation after a rare tropical storm formed in the Strait of Malacca, causing torrential rains and strong winds that lasted for a week, leaving hundreds dead.

The floods have displaced millions of people, with more than 4 million affected across the three countries, including about 3 million in southern Thailand and 1.1 million in western Indonesia.

A storm in Sri Lanka doubles the scale of the disaster.
On the other side of the Bay of Bengal, 153 people were killed by a cyclone that struck Sri Lanka, while 191 people are still missing, with more than half a million people affected across the island.
