Very heavy rain, lightning and flash floods in 6 Arab countries

Arab Weather - The Levant region in general, along with northern Egypt and northern Iraq, is experiencing a rainy spell, as a result of the region being affected by an active and deep low-pressure system centered over the eastern Mediterranean Sea, which has led to the formation of rain clouds accompanied by heavy rain, lightning and thunder in a wide geographical area.

According to the latest weather analysis issued by Arab Weather, the low-pressure system brings cold air in the upper layers of the atmosphere, coinciding with the availability of high humidity. This creates an ideal environment for thunderstorm activity and heavy rainfall at intervals, encompassing the Levant in general, in addition to large parts of northern Egypt, especially the northern coasts and the Delta, as well as northern Iraq.

The precipitation will be in the form of heavy, accumulating snow on the mountains of Syria, Lebanon, and northern Iraq, with a significant drop in temperatures, which may lead to noticeable snow accumulations and the closure of some mountain roads.

This weather condition is accompanied by a noticeable increase in wind speed, which leads to a decrease in horizontal visibility during heavy rainfall, in addition to the possibility of hail in some areas, which increases the risk of valleys overflowing and flash floods, especially in low-lying areas and valley courses.
