Arab Weather - Weather maps at the Arab Weather Center indicate that the Arab Republic of Egypt will be affected, starting from Sunday, November 2, 2025, by a state of atmospheric instability, resulting from the extension of the Red Sea depression coinciding with the advance of a cold upper-level trough from the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, bringing amounts of tropical moisture.

Egypt will be gradually affected by unstable weather conditions starting Sunday, with increasing cloud cover and the formation of cumulonimbus clouds that will bring rain. This will begin in the northern part of the New Valley Governorate and extend towards Minya, Giza, western Matrouh Governorate, as well as Beni Suef, Fayoum, and surrounding areas. There is a chance of scattered showers of varying intensity, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, which may be heavy in some areas, with the possibility of hail. This could lead to flash floods and water accumulation.

The situation extends towards the north of the country and Greater Cairo.

During the evening and night hours of Sunday/Monday and throughout Monday, the unstable weather conditions will expand to include wider areas of northern Egypt, including Greater Cairo, the Nile Delta, and northern Lower Egypt. These areas will experience showers of varying intensity, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, God willing.

Warning of strong downdrafts and dust storms

Thunderclouds are also expected to be accompanied by what is known as strong downdrafts in the areas where they are located, with gusts that may reach more than 70 km/h, leading to the formation of dense dust waves and dust storms that arise in the vicinity of the thunderclouds, as a result of the strong downdrafts that accompany them.

These storms gradually expand to areas far beyond the cloud cover, potentially reaching cities. For example, a thunderstorm might develop in the northern parts of the New Valley Governorate, generating strong downdrafts that stir up dust and create a sandstorm. This storm would begin locally but quickly and suddenly spread to wider areas, including city centers. Such winds necessitate securing outdoor belongings and driving with extreme caution, especially in desert areas.
