The number of flood victims in Afghanistan rose to 122

Weather of Arabia - the torrents that killed more than 122 people and destroyed more than 1500 homes north of the capital, Kabul, while families and rescue teams are still searching for survivors.

Officials at the Ministry of Disaster Management said at least 250 residents were injured when torrential rains earlier in the week sent torrential rains sweeping swaths of Parwan province.

"The ministry's spokesman, Tamim Azimi, described the situation as very worrying. The losses are enormous."

"There are still many missing," he added.

Survivors said there was a large number of children among the victims. The death toll is expected to rise, and families are preparing for mass burials of the dead, while piles of rubble have not yet been removed.

Afghanistan suffers from drought from time to time, but is vulnerable to heavy rains during the rainy season in South Asia.
