Arab Weather - The Kingdom has been experiencing very pleasant and refreshing weather over the past few nights, with active northwesterly winds. The weather has recently turned cold in several areas late at night, necessitating the wearing of special coats for those living in the highlands.

However, weather forecasts from the Arab Weather Center indicate that the heat wave expected to hit the Kingdom will not only affect the daytime hours, but will also extend into the nighttime hours, with relatively hot and humid nights expected across various regions starting at the end of the week.

Numerical models indicate that minimum temperatures may remain above 26-28 degrees Celsius in some major cities, which classifies the weather as "relatively hot." Minimum temperatures are recorded minutes after sunrise, meaning they will be much higher in the early evening hours.

High humidity levels during the night and a noticeable decrease in wind speed increase the feeling of heat.

The high nighttime temperatures are accompanied by high humidity of over 60%, and winds become light to calm in some areas, leading to an increased sensation of heat at night, making the atmosphere stifling and uncomfortable in several areas, with the so-called thermal pressure rising.

The influence of urban areas exacerbates the feeling of heat at night.

It is worth noting that urban areas, such as cities and metropolitan areas, are affected by what is known as the “urban heat island” phenomenon, where concrete and asphalt surfaces retain daytime heat and gradually release it during the night.

This effect results in higher temperatures in cities compared to surrounding rural areas. On some nights, the difference may exceed 3 to 7 degrees Celsius, which increases the feeling of discomfort and discomfort, especially with high humidity levels and low wind speeds.

Arab Weather advises against underestimating these weather conditions, especially for those most affected by the heat. It's also important to ensure proper ventilation and drink adequate amounts of water, even at night.
