Jordan: The Siberian high-pressure system will extend starting Monday evening, bringing bitterly cold weather and extremely low nighttime temperatures.
Arab Weather - The latest readings of computer maps in Arab Weather indicate that the low pressure system will move away from the Kingdom on Monday, January 19, 2026, with dense fog forming in the morning and the chance of rain showers remaining in some areas. This is due to the Kingdom being affected by the Siberian high pressure system starting from Monday evening and night/Tuesday, accompanied by stable but bitterly cold weather with low temperatures in the night and early morning hours, believed to be the coldest in several months.
Monday, January 19, 2026: Cold weather and fog over the mountains with limited chances of rain precede the extension of the Siberian high-pressure system overnight.
Temperatures will remain below average for this time of year on Monday, with generally cold weather and dense fog forming in the morning hours over the high mountain peaks, covering many main roads. There is also a possibility of scattered showers, and the winds will be moderate in speed and westerly in direction.
During the night hours of Monday/Tuesday, the Kingdom will be affected by the extension of what is called the cold Siberian high-pressure system, as the weather tends to stabilize and the amount of clouds decreases, so that the atmosphere becomes clear in most areas and the winds become calm, and the minimum temperatures (which are recorded minutes after sunrise) decrease significantly to be around zero degrees Celsius in many areas of the Kingdom, while they are below zero in the desert areas and the eastern plains.
Accordingly, frost is expected to form in large areas of the Kingdom, including agricultural areas, with the exception of the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba. Freezing is also possible in parts of the eastern plains and the eastern desert, especially during the early morning hours of Tuesday.
And God knows best.
