Saudi Arabia's Meteorology Department warns of thunderstorms, lightning, and dust in 13 regions today.
The National Center for Meteorology expects the active winds stirring up dust and sand to continue to affect large parts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Thursday, June 25, 2026, including the regions of Najran, Riyadh, the Eastern Province, Hail, Madinah and Makkah, in addition to the coastal road leading to Jazan, which may lead to a decrease in horizontal visibility in some locations.
In contrast, the center indicated the continued chances of thunderstorms and rain over parts of the Jazan, Asir and Al-Baha regions, where the rain will be accompanied by active winds that may stir up dust further, with the possibility of flash floods in some mountainous areas.
Weather conditions in major cities:
- Riyadh: Active winds and raised dust.
- Mecca: Partly cloudy with raised dust and active winds.
- Medina: Active winds and hot weather.
- Jeddah: Partly cloudy with raised dust and active winds.
- Dammam: Active winds and raised dust.
- Abha: Thunderstorms and active winds.
- Tabuk: Active winds.
- Buraidah: Stable weather.
- Hail: Active winds.
- Al-Baha: Thunderstorms with rain.
- Jazan: Thunderstorms, active winds, and dust storms.
- Najran: Dust haze and partly cloudy skies.
State of the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf
Regarding the sea conditions, the center explained that the winds on the Red Sea will be northwesterly on the northern and central parts, turning northerly on the southern part at a speed of up to 45 km/h towards the Gulf of Aqaba, with waves between one and two meters high, and a moderate sea state.
In the Arabian Gulf, the winds will be northwesterly to northerly at a speed of between 15 and 40 km/h, and may reach 45 km/h at times, with a wave height between half a meter and one and a half meters, reaching two meters in the middle part, and a light to moderate sea state.
