Meteorology `activates 17 national initiatives to raise the capacities of environmental services

<p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"><strong>Weather of Arabia</strong> - The General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection has activated 17 national initiatives concerned with the environmental and meteorological field in the Kingdom, within the framework of the Authority&#39;s role to achieve the Kingdom&#39;s Vision 2030, raise the level of work in meteorology and the environment in the Kingdom, and improve the level of services provided that contribute to the safety and well-being of society and promote sustainable development <span>.</span></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Abdulaziz Al-Sufyani, Vice President of Shared Services at the authority, stated that the activation of these initiatives comes in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, pointing out that the initiatives focus on raising the efficiency of processes and mechanisms for environmental accreditation and licensing, periodic environmental examination to monitor fuel stations and service centers, and control drainage from the source. And establishing a central unit to monitor air quality and emissions from the source <span>.</span></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> And he indicated that among the initiatives that the Authority has also undertaken are those related to chemical safety, rehabilitation of hotspots, transformation of meteorological services, diversification of funding sources of the Authority, as well as strategic environmental assessment of development sector initiatives, the establishment of a national program for environmental monitoring of ground and surface water, and the national program for environmental awareness. And sustainable development, and the establishment of a center for climate change, and the protection of the marine environment, as well as the development of systems of numerical models to improve the accuracy of forecasts of weather phenomena and increase the geographical coverage of monitoring and sensor stations.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p>
