Friday | Strong gusts of wind at 60-80 km/h and heavy dust on desert roads
The latest weather updates indicate that various regions of the Kingdom will be affected on Friday by active winds with strong gusts at times, ranging in speed from 60 to 80 km/h , and may locally exceed 90 km/h, especially in desert and rural areas, particularly during the afternoon, evening, and night hours.
These winds are expected to stir up widespread dust and sand, creating dense dust storms, particularly in the desert regions and along desert roads in Jordan , as well as large parts of the Syrian desert . The dust storm is also expected to extend later towards parts of Iraq and the Arabian Peninsula , taking on a broader regional impact.
The effects will begin to intensify from the afternoon, evening, and daytime hours of Friday, with drivers on desert roads being advised to take maximum precautions due to the reduced horizontal visibility, especially in the southern and eastern desert regions.
The wind element is also expected to have a clear impact on outdoor activities and trips, especially since most trips and travels peak during the afternoon on Friday, which calls for attention to wind gusts, especially over mountainous areas.
The relatively less affected areas include the Dead Sea and Aqaba regions, where wind gusts are expected to reach around 30 km/h, which is within the normal range for those areas.
As night falls, temperatures will drop significantly compared to the recent warm nights, and the weather will return to being relatively cold in various regions, with the minimum temperature potentially dropping to around 11 degrees Celsius in some parts of the Kingdom.
