و يُعتبر مقياس "سافير- سيمبسون" المعتمد عالميا في وصف الحالات المدارية و الاعاصير من حيث شدتها وقوتها وطبيعة حركتها مساعداً في فهم ومعرفة قوة القادم من حيث سرعة الرياح والضغط الجوي في مركز العاصفة وكذا حجم الاضرار المحتملة اثناء هبوب العاصفة او الاعصار كما هو موضح بالشكل أعلاه.
