موقع Arabiaweather.com - مع أولى أيام العالم الميلادي الجديد تعرّضت مناطق شمال شرق الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكندا إلى عاصفة ثلجية تكاد تكون الأعنف مند 20 سنة .. حيث سُجل منذ ساعات يوم أمس الخميس هبوب رياح قوية وعواصف ثلجبة مع انخفاض شديد على درجات الحرارة ، الأمر الذي اضطر إلى إعلان حالة الطوارئ في كل من ولايتي نيويورك ونيوجيرسي . هذا ومن من المتوقع أن تهبط درجات الحرارة خلال الليلة القادمة " ليلة الجمعة - السبت " اإلى ما يُقارب 13 درجة مئوية تحت الصفر ، والمحسوسة إلى أقل بكثير نظراً لسرعة الرياح التي ستزيد من الاحساس بالبرودة . كذلك في "بوسطن" تساقط الثلج بكثافة أمس الخميس ، فيما ستتدنى درجات الحرارة الى 21 تحت الصفر لاحقاً وما لذلك من تبعات وصعوبات بالغة .
وأفادت وسائل إعلام أمريكية أن العواصف الثلجبة في شمال شرق البلاد تسببت بإلغاء آلاف الرحلات الجوية ، وإغلاق الطرقات السريعة و المدارس ، وبات أكثر من نصف مليون شخص تحت الظلام بسبب انقطاع التيار الكهربائي ، بعد أن بلغ سمك الثلوج أكثر من 150 سم في بعض مناطق نيويورك . وفي تصريحات للجهاز المسؤول عن خدمة الطقس في أمريكا قال " إن حوالي ثلث سكان الولايات المتحدة تأثروا بالعاصفة التي بدأت أمس" !
