Levant: Heavy rain and lightning in several areas this weekend, with the first snowfall expected on the peaks of Lebanon.

Arab Weather - The latest weather analyses indicate the formation of a low-pressure system in the eastern Mediterranean basin by the end of the week, as a result of a cold air mass rushing in, coinciding with the extension of the Red Sea thermal low coming from the south, which will lead to a state of atmospheric instability in several areas, thunderstorms, and the possibility of flash floods.

Heavy thunderstorms in several areas and snow on Lebanon's high peaks

This low-pressure system is expected to cause instability, bringing scattered thunderstorms to random areas of the Levant on Thursday. The instability will intensify on Friday, resulting in thunderstorms across large areas of the Levant. These storms could be heavy and accompanied by thunder and hail. Waterspouts are also possible off the coasts of the Levant.

During Saturday and Sunday, the flow of cold and humid winds to the Levant will increase, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures and heavy rainfall in Syria, Lebanon and Palestine, extending to Jordan in the form of random showers, especially in the northern and central regions.

It is also expected that there will be an opportunity for snowfall for the first time this season on the high peaks of Lebanon, especially the mountains that are more than 2000 meters above sea level. The snow will be heavy and accumulated, God willing.

Heavy rainfall is expected in some areas.

Forecasts indicate that a low-pressure system may bring significant rainfall to parts of the eastern Mediterranean basin, with some areas along the Syrian and Lebanese coasts expected to receive up to 200 mm of rain. This heavy rainfall could lead to flash floods in low-lying areas and valleys, necessitating caution and close monitoring of daily weather updates.

Recommendations to cancel all outdoor activities and trips

Due to weather forecasts indicating that the region will be affected by unstable weather conditions at the end of the week, accompanied by the possibility of heavy thunderstorms that may lead to flash floods and rising water levels in a number of areas.

The Arab Weather Center recommends cancelling all trips and outdoor activities in all regions of the Kingdom, especially in the Jordan Valley and Dead Sea areas, starting from the end of the week until the unstable weather conditions end.
