Fahad Badar: The Qatari adventurer who braved frostbite and the amputation of his fingers to reach the world's peaks
In July 2021, Qatari adventurer Fahad Badar suffered a severe injury known as frostbite while climbing Broad Peak in Pakistan, at an altitude of 8,047 meters. This resulted in the amputation of four fingers on his left hand and one on his right (arabic.cnn.com).
Accident details
During his climb, his oxygen supply ran out, causing severe hallucinations and loss of sensation in his fingers, which turned purple. He was later flown to London where he underwent amputation of the affected fingers.
