Not the sea, but the streets of America... Watch Hurricane Beryl hit Texas
Arab Weather - The US state of Texas witnessed an increase in power outages along its coast after Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Monday, bringing heavy rains and strong winds to Houston.
According to CenterPoint Energy in Houston, about a million homes and businesses were without power hours after Beryl made landfall.
Houston's streets turned into choppy seas, as rising waters closed streets across the city, and authorities issued widespread flood warnings in the Texas coastal region.
The National Weather Service expected Beryl to weaken and turn into a tropical depression on Tuesday, heading toward the northeast.
The storm caused widespread devastation in Mexico and the Caribbean last week, according to what was reported by "Sky News Arabia", and more than a thousand flights were canceled at Houston airports, according to data from the "Flight Aware" website.
Hurricane Beryl dumped heavy rain across Houston after coming ashore, and is expected to bring damaging winds to East Texas near Louisiana as the storm moves north.
Jack Bevin, senior hurricane specialist at the National Hurricane Center, said:
“Beryl moves in, but that's not the end of the story.”
