A low-pressure system and a very cold air mass bring heavy snow and rain to southeastern Europe, with consequences reaching Arab countries.
Arab Weather - The latest weather updates from the Arab Weather Regional Center indicate that Turkish territory will be affected by a low-pressure system accompanied by an extremely cold air mass coming from northern Europe. This will lead to a sharp drop in temperatures, heavy rain, and snowfall in the northern highlands.
Heavy snow covers many mountainous areas in Türkiye.
According to weather data, snow is expected to fall on the mountainous highlands of northern Turkey, particularly in the regions of Trabzon, Giresun, and Rize, as well as the highlands of Erzurum province. Temperatures are expected to drop significantly to below zero degrees Celsius at night in many inland and mountainous areas.
The effects of the low pressure system affect several Arab countries.
With the depression centered over Turkey, its effects will extend southward to the northern Levant, where cumulonimbus clouds are expected to increase over northern and western Syria and parts of Lebanon on Sunday, bringing thunderstorms that may be locally heavy, accompanied by a drop in temperatures.
As the low pressure system moves eastward, its effects will reach northern Iraq, where snow will fall on the mountain peaks in the border areas, while rain will fall on the low-lying areas in the border areas, God willing. This rain could be heavy at times.
The Arab Weather Center urges people to be aware of the risks of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas in the northern Levant, as well as of landslides and reduced visibility on mountain roads in northern Türkiye and northern Iraq due to snow.
And God knows best.
