Jordan calls for sighting the crescent moon of Ramadan on Tuesday evening

The General Iftaa Department announced that the crescent moon of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH/2026 AD will be sought on Tuesday evening, confirming that the chances of seeing it are impossible according to astronomical data.

The head of the Jordanian Astronomical Society, Ammar Al-Sakaji, said that the angular elongation between the moon and the sun will be about one degree or less, making the moon very close to the sun and immersed in its glare, noting that attempting to observe using telescopes or any traditional optical magnification methods poses a real danger to eye safety.

The International Astronomy Center confirmed that the crescent moon will not be visible in all regions of the Arab and Islamic world, whether with the naked eye or using a telescope or advanced astronomical imaging techniques, calling on everyone to focus on public safety and preserve eyesight.
