Arab Weather - The Green Mountain region in northeastern Libya is witnessing today the activity of cumulonimbus clouds, accompanied by local summer rainfall, in a scene that is rare during this time of year in a country that is predominantly dry desert in climate and does not receive rain in the summer.
According to the outputs of the weather maps at the Arab Weather Center, the mountainous nature of the Green Mountain region, along with the availability of quantities of moisture coming from the Mediterranean Sea and the high temperatures during the day, contributed to the formation of cumulonimbus clouds capable of producing showers of rain, which may sometimes be heavy in narrow geographical areas, and are accompanied by lightning and thunder.
The Green Mountain is a geographical exception within Libya, as it is characterized by its heights and topography, which help in the formation of rain clouds more than the rest of the country, while most Libyan regions remain under the influence of hot and dry weather with no chance of rain during the summer season.
And God knows best.
