The latest updates issued by the weather forecasting team at Arab Weather indicate that parts of the Arab world will be affected, starting from Tuesday, July 14, 2026, by a state of summer atmospheric instability, accompanied by the activity of cumulonimbus thunderclouds and rainfall of varying intensity over 6 Arab countries, which may be locally heavy during some periods, with the possibility of flash floods in some low-lying areas and valleys.
This situation is part of the usual summer weather systems during which thunderstorms become noticeably active during the afternoon hours, especially over mountainous and highland areas, due to the availability of humidity and unstable weather conditions.
The chances of cumulonimbus cloud activity over the Hajar Mountains in the Sultanate of Oman will be renewed during the afternoon hours, especially over the western and eastern Hajar, where thunderstorms of varying intensity will occur, sometimes accompanied by thunder and hail showers, which may lead to the flow of valleys and streams.
Thunderstorm cloud formation is also expected to continue over parts of the coasts and governorates of Dhofar, with local thunderstorm rainfall.
In the United Arab Emirates, cumulonimbus clouds are active over the eastern highlands, and may sometimes extend towards some inland areas, accompanied by scattered summer rainfall.
The chances of daily thunderstorms are increasing over the highlands of Jazan, Asir and Al-Baha, with the possibility of them sometimes extending towards parts of the Makkah region, as a result of the activity of mountain clouds during the afternoon hours, with the warning of the importance of following the daily updates issued by the National Center for Meteorology.
Thunderstorm clouds will continue their activity over the western highlands of Yemen during the coming days, with thunderstorms that may sometimes be heavy.
This situation is accompanied by opportunities for hail showers and thunderstorms, which may increase the likelihood of valleys and ravines overflowing and flash floods forming in some areas.
Large parts of northern and central Morocco are experiencing frequent activity of cumulonimbus clouds, especially over the northern mountainous regions, where they are accompanied by showers, lightning and thunder, which may lead to the flow of some valleys and streams.
Thunderstorm clouds are also active over parts of northern Algeria, especially the northern interior regions, and may be accompanied by active downdrafts that stir up dust and cause a decrease in horizontal visibility, along with heavy rainfall and hail showers, especially during the last days of the week.
The flow of tropical moisture from the southern regions continues, which will lead to renewed activity of cumulonimbus clouds and rainfall over large areas of South Sudan during the coming period, with continued chances of thunderstorms.
