Meteorology: Weather warnings on Friday cover 9 regions... and red alerts in Hail, Qassim, and Asir

The National Center for Meteorology issued a series of weather alerts covering parts of the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Al-Baha, Asir, Jazan, Riyadh, Qassim, Hail, and the Eastern Province, as a result of being affected by a state of atmospheric instability.

These warnings will continue until 9:00 PM on Friday, May 8, 2026, with varying levels of warning between red, orange, and yellow depending on the severity of the weather conditions in each region.

Makkah Region:

Medina region:

• The red alert includes : None.
• Orange alert includes: Al-Hanakiya, Al-Mahd
• The yellow alert includes: Medina

Al-Baha region:

• The red alert includes: None.
• Orange alert includes: Al-Baha, Al-Aqiq, Al-Qura, Al-Mandaq, Baljurashi, Bani Hassan.

Asir region:

• The red alert includes: Al-Harjah, Al-Rabou'ah, Al-Farsha, Sarat Abidah, Dhahran Al-Janoub,
• The orange alert includes: Abha, Ahad Rafidah, Khamis Mushait, Al Namas, Balqarn, Tanomah, Rijal Alma, Mahayil, Al Majardah, Bariq, Bisha.
• Yellow alert includes: Al-Amouh, Al-Areen, Tathlith

Jazan region:

• The red alert includes: None.
• The orange alert includes: Al-Harth, Al-Da’ir, Al-Raith, Al-Ardah, Al-Aydabi, Fifa, Haroub.
• Yellow alert: None.

Riyadh region:

• The red alert includes: None.
• The orange alert includes: Zulfi, Al Ghat, Al Majmaah, Shaqra, Al Dawadmi, Afif,
• Yellow alert includes: Al-Rayn, Al-Quway'iyah

Al-Qassim region:

• The red alert includes: Al-Asyah, Al-Badai’, Al-Bukayriyah, Al-Thamiriya, Al-Shamasiya, Al-Ammar, Al-Mudhnib, Buraydah, Unayzah, Uyun Al-Jawa, Abanat, Al-Khabra, Ar-Rass, Al-Fawarah, An-Nabhaniah, Riyadh Al-Khabra, Dhariyah, Uqlat As-Suqur.
• The orange alert includes: None.
• The yellow alert includes: None.

Hail region:

• The red alert includes: Al-Hait, Al-Salimi, Al-Shamani, Al-Ghazala, Hail, Muwaqq, Al-Shanan, Baqaa, Samira.
• The orange alert includes: None.
• The yellow alert includes: None.

Eastern Region:

• The red alert includes: None.
• The orange alert includes: Hafr Al-Batin, Al-Khafji, Al-Nu'airiyah, Qaryat Al-Ulya
• The yellow alert includes: None.

The most prominent expected weather phenomena:

• Heavy rain at times
• Active to very strong winds
• Reduced horizontal visibility
• lightning
• Hail fell
• The possibility of flash floods and valleys

The center called for caution, especially while driving, and urged people to avoid flood channels and areas where water accumulates, while also emphasizing the need to follow updates regularly.
