Arab Weather - On Saturday, Jumada Al-Awwal 19, 1413 AH, corresponding to November 14, 1992 AD, the people of Tabuk woke up to a rare and unforgettable scene, as a snowstorm covered the region with a magical white blanket, with snow accumulating up to 30 cm in height in some areas, leaving behind a magical and surprising atmosphere, something the city's residents had not witnessed for decades, as if nature had decided to write a new chapter in the region's weather history.
Snow covered a 100-km stretch of the Tabuk-Haql road, starting from Al-Uyaynah Center to Wadi Al-Asmar, passing through Al-Zaytah, the villages of Sharif Maatiyah and Al-Sharaf, and reaching Halat Ammar and Dhat Al-Hajj.
Travelers described being surprised by the snow on the road, with some stopping to take photos, and others carrying the snow in their cars, delighted and amazed by this rare weather phenomenon.
The oldest historical document indicates that in 1362 AH, corresponding to 1943 AD, snow fell in Tabuk, reaching a height of nearly a meter. This rare incident illustrates the severity of these climatic phenomena in the region over the past decades.
In the Al-Uqlan district, another snowstorm killed livestock and damaged homes. It lasted for seven consecutive days, beginning on the 7th of Ramadan 1384 AH (March 14, 1965 AD), and was accompanied by heavy rains and bitter cold. The government then provided support and compensation to the affected villagers.
The areas of Al-Uqlan, Al-Dhaher, and Jabal Al-Lawz are considered annual scenes of snowfall of varying intensity, while the years 1362 AH / 1943 AD, 1384 AH / 1965 AD, and 1413 AH / 1992 AD remain references for rare climatic phenomena, which were sometimes accompanied by heavy rains in the city of Tabuk, leaving unforgettable snowy memories in the memory of the people.
