Arab Weather - Weather updates issued by the Arab Weather Center indicate that the chances of thunderstorms will significantly decrease over the weekend, before resuming early next week due to the renewed influence of humid currents coming from tropical regions.

In detail, the chances of thunderstorms are expected to decrease during the end of this week, with the chance remaining limited in some areas of the southwest of the Kingdom, where scattered amounts of cumulus clouds are expected to appear during the afternoon hours, which may be accompanied by light to moderate showers of rain, sometimes accompanied by lightning and thunder, and possibly limited showers of hail, locally and in narrow areas.

Areas covered by rain forecasts early next week

Thunderstorms are expected to expand early next week to include large areas such as Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Taif, and, to a lesser extent, Makkah and the surrounding mountainous regions. Heavy thunderstorms are expected, accompanied by hail and downdrafts, which could lead to flash floods and the flow of valleys in some areas.

These developments are attributed to the northward shift of the subtropical high pressure system, which allows the Intertropical Zone Zone (ITCZ) to advance into Saudi Arabia and provides a fertile environment for the formation of widespread cumulonimbus clouds, especially over mountainous regions.

And God knows best.
