Arab Weather - Computer maps at the Arab Weather Center indicate that Iraq will be increasingly affected by the subtropical high pressure system in the coming days. Consequently, temperatures will likely rise to around or slightly higher than their average for this time of year.
The weather will be hot to extremely hot across the country, with temperatures reaching the mid-40s Celsius in the capital, Baghdad, which is within the average climate for this time of year. Winds will be moderate northwesterly, accompanied by active gusts that will cause dust storms, especially in the northwestern regions.
Southern Iraq is expected to be the hottest region on Earth in the coming days, with temperatures approaching 50 degrees Celsius, particularly in Maysan and neighboring areas.
According to preliminary indicators from computer simulations, the subtropical high pressure system is expected to intensify its influence on Iraq, fueling the heat dome. Consequently, the chances of Iraq being affected by a severe and prolonged heat wave are increasing, starting in the second week of August, with temperatures returning to around 50 degrees Celsius across large areas of the country.
And God knows best.
