موقع ArabiaWeather.com- تسببت ظاهرة النينيو المناخية الحالية بنقص أعداد قناديل البحر في بحيرة "بالا" المالحة الواقعة في المحيط الهادي والتي تعتبر من مواقع "اليونسكو" للتراث العالمي.

 

وتسبب الجفاف الشديد وارتفاع درجة حرارة الماء الناتجة عن "النينيو" المناخية، بتراجع أعداد قناديل البحر الذهبية في البحيرة من 8 مليون إلى 600 ألف.

 

وبين المدير الساحلي لمنطقة "بالا" كولين جوزيف، أن تراجع هذه الأعداد كان بشكل واضح خلال الأسبوعين الماضيين، لافتا إلى إمكانية انتعاش أعداد قناديل البحر مع تحسن الظروف المناخية.

 

وذكر العلماء في مؤسسة بالا لبحوث الشعاب المرجانية، بأن سقوط الأمطار في المنطقة خلال الأشهر الأربعة الماضية كان في أدنى مستوياته منذ 65 عاما.
