A winter day on the cusp of summer; a late low-pressure system affecting the Levant.

Arab Weather - The latest weather maps in Arab Weather indicate that Turkish lands are affected by a low-pressure system that is late for this time of year, bringing to large areas of eastern Europe heavy rains and thunderstorms, in addition to unusually cold weather for this time of year.

The effects of this low-pressure system will extend from the morning of Thursday, May 21, 2026, towards the Levant region in the form of a surge of large amounts of clouds at different altitudes, leading to rainfall in several areas of Syria, especially the northwestern regions, in addition to some inland governorates, reaching scattered areas of Lebanon, parts of northern and central Palestine, and northern Jordan.

This weather condition is expected to be accompanied by intermittent rainfall, along with a noticeable increase in wind speed and relatively cold and unusual weather for this time of year.

It is also possible that some rainfall will be accompanied by thunderstorms, especially in parts of northern Syria, in addition to the possibility of local hail showers, flash floods, and rising water levels in some areas.

This morning, footage was received by the air operations team at Arab Weather indicating the presence of floods and a significant rise in water levels in several areas of Syria, specifically in the governorates of Hama and Latakia, as a result of the heavy rains that those areas witnessed.
