Arab Weather names the prolonged rainy spell, which begins this evening and will continue throughout the Eid holiday and until the end of March, as `Ghaith`.

Arab Weather announces the naming of the long and recurring rainy weather system “Ghaith”, which is expected to affect the Kingdom starting from Wednesday evening - God willing - and will be renewed at intervals during the Eid al-Fitr holiday until the end of March.

The rainy weather system “Ghaith” will not be a single low-pressure system, but rather a series of successive rainy weather systems that will - God willing - modify the rainy season in various regions of the Kingdom, starting from the evening of Wednesday, March 18, 2026, and will be renewed during the Eid al-Fitr holiday and then at successive intervals until the end of March 2026.

This comes after a period of relative lack of rain during February, making the “Ghaith” weather event an opportunity to compensate for the lack of rain, revive the agricultural season and spring vegetation, bring joy - God willing - to the hearts of farmers and livestock breeders, and supply the Kingdom’s dams with excellent quantities of water.

Arab Weather explains that the choice of the name “Ghaith” reflects the connotations of goodness and blessing associated with rain, especially with the coincidence of the weather event with the last days of Ramadan and the Eid holiday, in addition to the beginning of the spring season astronomically, to be an opportunity for the renewal of life in nature and the improvement of the rainy season in the Kingdom.
