Jordan | Public Security Directorate: Procedures to be followed before the onset of winter

<p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr">Arab Weather - With the onset of autumn and the increased likelihood of rain and weather fluctuations, the Public Security Directorate reported that some may deal with these changes without adequate preparation, or be surprised by circumstances that could have been predicted in advance.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> The Directorate stressed the importance of being well prepared for these circumstances to avoid risks and save time and effort for individuals, families and institutions. To achieve prevention and protection, the Directorate issued a set of important guidelines:</p><ol style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"><li style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Maintenance of drainage networks: The Directorate stresses the need to regularly inspect and maintain drainage networks, channels and culverts. This step greatly reduces the rise in water levels, which contributes to avoiding floods that may impede traffic and damage infrastructure.</li><li style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Periodic maintenance of heaters: As winter approaches, it is necessary to perform periodic maintenance of heaters of various types, including checking the safety of pipes and stoves, in order to reduce the risks of fires and carbon monoxide poisoning that increase during this season.</li><li style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Prevention during cleaning water wells: The Directorate recommended taking the necessary preventive measures during cleaning water wells, to ensure that dangerous accidents such as falling or poisoning do not occur.</li><li style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Secure volatile objects: In severe weather conditions, it is advisable to secure volatile objects on rooftops or in open areas. These objects may pose a danger to pedestrians or vehicles in strong winds.</li><li style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Vehicle Inspection: It is important to inspect vehicles, especially parts that are essential for safe driving in winter weather conditions, such as tires, wipers, and lights. These checks help avoid accidents that may result from poor visibility or loss of vehicle control.</li><li style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Adherence to the instructions of the competent authorities: Finally, the Directorate stresses the need to adhere to the advice and instructions issued by the competent authorities regarding weather conditions and preventive measures.
