Timeline of a second-degree low-pressure system affecting Jordan on Tuesday
Arab Weather - Weather experts at Arab Weather said that the Kingdom will be affected, God willing, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, by a second-degree low-pressure system (the normal degree according to the scale of intensity of low-pressure systems developed by Arab Weather). The low-pressure system will be accompanied by a cold air mass, and consequently, a noticeable decrease in temperatures and renewed rainfall, God willing, in several areas.
Timeline of a second-degree (normal) low-pressure system affecting the Kingdom on Tuesday
Tuesday morning until noon: The Kingdom will begin to be affected by the low-pressure system, God willing, starting in the early morning hours of Tuesday. Rain is expected in the north of the Kingdom, gradually extending to the central regions, including Balqa and the capital, Amman. Heavy rainfall is possible at times, accompanied by lightning, thunder, and localized hail, especially in the northern regions. Therefore, caution is advised regarding the risk of flash floods and overflowing wadis and streams. Low-lying clouds will pass over the high mountain peaks, leading to fog formation.
Tuesday afternoon: The Kingdom will be increasingly affected by the low-pressure system, with cold and cloudy weather and rainfall expected, God willing, in the north and central regions, as well as parts of the southern and western regions. Rainfall will be heavy at times. Low-lying clouds will also pass over the high mountain peaks, leading to fog formation. A noticeable increase in westerly wind speeds is expected, with gusts exceeding 60 km/h, particularly in the eastern plains and desert regions, causing dust storms in those areas.
In the far eastern desert regions, particularly the Jordanian-Iraqi border area, unstable weather conditions prevail, with thunderclouds multiplying and opportunities for thunderstorms accompanied by hail and dust-raising winds.
Tuesday evening and night/Wednesday: Rain will continue intermittently, God willing, in several parts of the Kingdom, with fog forming over the mountains during the early evening and night hours. During the late night hours, the chances of rain will generally weaken, while the possibility of local rain in limited areas remains.
Key recommendations during the period when the Kingdom is affected by the low-pressure system:
- Avoid crossing or standing in valleys.
- Drive carefully on roads experiencing rainfall or reduced horizontal visibility due to fog.
- Be aware of the risks of flash floods and the flow of valleys and ravines, including the Jordan Valley areas.
And God knows best.
