ويُفسر المثل؛ بأنه بعد هبوب الرياح الشرقية النشطة بعدّة أيام فان منطقة بلاد الشام على موعد مع حدوث حالة من عدم الاستقرار الجوي يرافقها هطول الأمطار وغالبًا ما تكون عزيرة وموحلة؛ بسبب هبوب الرياح الشرقية والجنوبية الشرقية النشطة في منطقة بلاد الشام خاصة في فصل الشتاء إما لامتداد منخفض البحر الأحمر من الجنوب، أو مُقدمة لمنخفض جوي يقبع في البحر الأبيض المتوسط؛ مما ينتج عنه حالة قوية من عدم الاستقرار الجوي تتميز بالبرق والرعد والأمطار الغزيرة.
