Arab Weather - Weather experts at the Arab Weather Regional Center said that the latest outputs from the so-called computer simulations that monitor the movements of air masses in the layers of the atmosphere close to the Earth's surface indicate that Iraq will be affected, starting from the northern and western regions, by a cold air mass of polar origin, resulting in an extremely cold wave, especially in the second half of next week.

In detail, a cold air mass of polar origin is rushing towards the region and its effects on Iraq will begin from the hours of Sunday/Monday night, as temperatures drop significantly and the weather turns to become remarkably cold, and quantities of clouds appear in the northern regions, with showers of rain falling in the far northern regions, in the form of snow showers on the high mountain peaks, especially in the border areas.

The cold wave deepens in the second half of the week, with a noticeable drop in temperatures.

The impact of the cold wave on Iraq will deepen in the second half of the week as the cold air mass moves to settle in eastern Turkey and northern Iraq. As a result, temperatures will drop further, becoming colder than usual for this time of year by about 4-6 degrees Celsius. The weather will be cold in the northern and western regions, and relatively cold in the rest of the regions, with temperatures ranging between 9-11 degrees Celsius in the north and west of the country, while they will be between 15-17 degrees Celsius in the capital, Baghdad.

Cold to very cold nights are coming to Iraq, with minimum temperatures reaching 5 degrees in the capital, Baghdad.

The weather forecasting staff at the Arab Weather Regional Center expects the effect of the cold air mass to deepen, leading to the flow of very cold northwesterly winds, as temperatures drop sharply and noticeably, especially during the nights of the second half of the week. Very cold weather prevails and temperatures are very low, reaching only 6 degrees Celsius in the capital, Baghdad, while they are slightly higher than that in the southern regions.
