This is due to the advance of a cooler air mass coming from the eastern Mediterranean basin, which is causing temperatures to drop across various regions.

Temperatures are expected to drop significantly on Monday across northern and western Iraq, including Anbar, Nineveh, Salah al-Din, and parts of the capital, Baghdad. Temperatures will be 2-4 degrees Celsius higher than usual, after having been even higher in previous days.

Despite the drop, the weather remains hot to extremely hot in most Iraqi cities, with dust and sand particles appearing at varying densities due to active northwesterly winds. Caution is advised, especially for those with respiratory and eye conditions.

During the evening and night hours of Monday, minimum temperatures are expected to drop, especially in the western regions of the country, with the weather becoming generally warm, but moderate towards the late night hours, especially in the western regions.

In contrast, the southern regions of Iraq, particularly Basra, the Samawah desert, and Maysan, are exposed to the effects of an extremely hot air mass, with temperatures exceeding 50 degrees Celsius. The weather is scorching and extremely hot, requiring serious attention to avoid direct sun exposure during peak periods.

Tuesday: The low pressure extends southward, and relatively moderate weather returns.

On Tuesday, temperatures will continue to gradually drop, this time extending to the southern regions as well, with temperatures returning to near-normal levels in most governorates. The weather will remain hot to extremely hot during the day in most areas, but less severe than on Monday. Active northwesterly winds will continue to affect the country, bringing dust and suspended dust.

During the night hours of Tuesday/Wednesday, temperatures will continue to drop, with the weather becoming moderate in the northern and western regions, while remaining warm in the rest of the country.
