Jordan-Hair Stadium in Auburn, Alabama, was on high alert before the start of the friendly match between Argentina and Iceland, after an official warning appeared on the giant screen inside the stadium due to lightning being detected in the vicinity.
The stadium management ordered the immediate evacuation of the stands, and the players and technical staff were instructed to leave the field, in compliance with the approved safety protocols in such cases.
The city of Auburn is currently experiencing heavy rain and strong thunderstorms, raising concerns about whether the meeting can be held as scheduled.
Despite these circumstances, the match was held later, and ended with Argentina winning 3-0, in their last friendly test before the upcoming international commitments related to the 2026 World Cup.
