Arab Weather - The latest outputs from the Arab Weather Regional Center's numerical computer models, which simulate the movement of weather systems and air masses in the Northern Hemisphere, indicate continued weather variations across the Arab world this week. While the effects of the heat dome are intensifying in some areas, other regions are witnessing significant activity in seasonal summer rains, especially in the highlands of the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman.
The effects of the heat dome are expected to intensify across the Maghreb this week, especially in inland areas far from bodies of water. The weather will be hot to extremely hot, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in these areas. The chances of thunderstorms continuing over parts of the mountain ranges of northern Morocco and northern Algeria, with a lesser chance of them extending to eastern Tunisia. Thunderstorms are also expected to form in the Algerian desert, generally accompanied by thunderstorms, sometimes with hail, and downward winds that cause dense dust waves.
Hot summer weather continues in Egypt, with heavy mist and fog forming during the night and dawn hours in the north of the country, including on agricultural roads and areas near bodies of water. Meanwhile, hot summer weather prevails in Libya, especially in the interior regions, with the possibility of some thunderstorms forming in parts of northeastern Libya and also in the far western desert, accompanied by rainfall and sudden winds that stir up dust waves.
The week is expected to begin in the Levant with relatively hot to hot summer weather across most regions, before the warm air returns to the region in the second half of the week, accompanied by a significant rise in temperatures and hot weather across all regions, with extreme heat in the eastern and low-lying regions.
A subtropical high pressure system continues to dominate large parts of the Arabian Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula, bringing extremely hot conditions to Iraq, Kuwait, and eastern Saudi Arabia, with temperatures exceeding 45°C in some areas. Hot and humid conditions are also being recorded in the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain, with the sensation of heat increasing due to high humidity levels, especially in coastal areas.
Cumulus clouds are increasing over the eastern highlands of the UAE and the Sultanate of Oman, bringing summer rains known as "Rawaih" (rains of the winds) as a result of the flow of humid southeasterly monsoon winds coming from the Arabian Sea. These rains are accompanied by cumulus cloud activity and the possibility of lightning and thunder, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.
And God knows best.
