Climate is affected by many factors including geographical topography, land distribution, sea currents, etc., and has a significant impact on plants, animals, humans and their activities.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><h3 style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> <strong>Is there a relationship between climate change and earthquakes?</strong></h3><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> Studies and reports have varied about the relationship of climate change to natural disasters such as earthquakes, storms, hurricanes, floods, volcanoes, etc. Some of these studies indicate that temperature varies depending on the speed of seismic waves, which means that earthquakes can significantly affect climate changes.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> For his part, environmental expert Dr. Ahmed Tawfiq pointed out that there is only one effect that has been observed regarding the relationship between earthquakes and weather.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> This effect is evident in the fact that large changes in atmospheric pressure, which can occur as a result of major storms, may sometimes lead to the occurrence of what are known as <strong>“slow earthquakes.”</strong> Tawfiq points out that these earthquakes release energy gradually over a long period of time and do not cause noticeable vibration in the Earth’s surface. Despite this observed correlation, the effect of large changes in atmospheric pressure on the occurrence of major earthquakes is statistically uncertain and the percentage of effects is considered small.</p><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"></p><h3 style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> <strong>Is there a relationship between astronomical events and earthquakes?</strong></h3><p style=";text-align:left;direction:ltr"> For his part, the head of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research in Egypt, Gad Al-Qadi, confirmed that there is no relationship between any astronomical phenomena and the occurrence of any seismic activity on the surface of the Earth.
