Arab Weather - We look back in memory and climate archives to 2021, specifically December, when the Kingdom witnessed a period of remarkable and continuous weather activity, culminating in rainfall exceeding 100 mm in western Amman.
The Kingdom witnessed an excellent rainy period starting on Friday, December 17, 2021, in the form of humid westerly air currents, which continued until Saturday, bringing showers to parts of the Kingdom. The weather stabilized temporarily on Sunday.
The Kingdom was also affected since Monday morning, December 20, 2021, by the first third-degree low pressure system of the season. A cold front passed through the morning, bringing rain to the north and center of the Kingdom. Snow fell over the mountainous areas and accumulated to a limited extent. The main air front passed through in the evening and night, accompanied by heavy rainfall.
The low pressure system was followed by long-lasting, moist westerly air currents that brought intermittent rainfall until the evening of Friday, December 24, 2021. Meteorological stations affiliated with the Arabia Weather Center recorded large amounts of rainfall, the highest since the beginning of the rainy season. The heaviest rainfall occurred in western Amman, with 107.2 mm (the highest rainfall on record). This rainfall, during the Good Week of that year, provided a positive boost to the rainy season and improved its performance.
We ask God to send us rain soon.
