Jeddah: Latest rain forecasts for early August

Arab Weather - The latest medium- and long-term forecasts from Arab Weather indicate improved chances of summer monsoon rains in the highlands of the southwest and west of the Kingdom starting in August. Expectations are that these rains will extend to parts of the Makkah region.

More tropical moisture flowing in

Indications are that more tropical moisture will flow into the region beginning in August, due to the upper high pressure centering north of the Arabian Peninsula and moving away from the central and southern regions of the Kingdom. There are also indications that the ITCZ is advancing further north, which increases the chances of thunderstorms covering larger areas and extending towards the Makkah region.

Does rain include Jeddah?

Arab Weather experts said that the extension of cumulus clouds toward the Makkah region increases the likelihood of them extending to Jeddah as they continue their westward advance. Several factors determine the strength or intensity of rainfall in Jeddah, including the amount of moisture flowing and the presence of air lift factors that help the development of cumulus thunderstorms over the city.
