Arab Weather - With the summer heat sweeping across the Kingdom, many Jordanians are looking for cool spots and natural destinations with pleasant climates to escape the heat. Jordan is characterized by its diverse terrain and the presence of high mountainous areas where temperatures remain moderate and tend to be cold at night, even in the height of summer.
Ajloun Governorate, specifically the Ras Munif area, is one of the most popular summer destinations in Jordan. Located approximately 1,200 meters above sea level, the area enjoys a pleasant summer climate during the day and a cool climate at night, with minimum temperatures sometimes dropping to around 14-15 degrees Celsius. The area is characterized by dense forests and green spaces, along with refreshing mountain breezes, making it a favorite destination for trips and outdoor gatherings, especially in the evening.
Despite being located in the south of the Kingdom, the Tafilah Highlands, especially Rashadiyya and Busayra, in addition to the Shobak area, are among the coldest areas in Jordan during the summer. Temperatures there often drop to levels below 15 degrees Celsius at night, with moderate daytime weather and cool breezes at night. At times, especially at the beginning of the night, temperatures drop to below 10 degrees Celsius in parts of these areas, especially the Shobak Highlands.
In the northern Irbid Governorate, areas such as the northern Mazar and the Qaida Triangle stand out as ideal choices for those seeking a bit of coolness during the late evening hours. Temperatures are relatively hot during the day, but drop significantly at night, with pleasant conditions suitable for outdoor seating, thanks to these areas' high altitude and mountainous nature.
In Karak Governorate, particularly in the highlands such as the Southern Mazar District, the summer weather is generally moderate, with a tendency to cool down at night. These areas are a suitable refuge from the hot summer weather.
The main reason for the low temperatures in these regions is their high altitude, in addition to the mountainous terrain, which allows for the flow of sea winds and lower temperatures at night. The lack of urbanization and the proliferation of green spaces and forests also contribute to the moderate temperatures, as these regions store the nighttime coolness and mitigate the intensity of the daytime heat.
