Arab Weather - The latest weather analyses issued by the Arab Weather Center indicate that a cooler, more moderate air mass is infiltrating from the eastern Mediterranean. This air mass will gradually affect large parts of the Levant, Iraq, and Kuwait over the coming days, contributing to a drop in temperatures and a return to the usual summer weather for this time of year.
Temperatures in Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine are expected to drop to near average. Typical summer weather will prevail during the day, while at night the weather will turn pleasant and humid, particularly in the highlands and inland areas. Low clouds are expected to increase in the early morning hours in coastal areas, as a result of the flow of northwesterly sea winds laden with moisture.
The cooler air mass is gradually moving eastward, reaching northern and western Iraq by midweek, extending south and central Iraq, including the capital, Baghdad, and also reaching Kuwait, where temperatures are expected to drop, following days of scorching temperatures approaching or exceeding 50 degrees Celsius.
This anticipated drop in temperature will help mitigate the extreme heat and return the weather to less extreme levels. However, it does not mean the heat will disappear completely, especially in desert regions.
Despite the relatively mild weather, northwesterly winds from the sea will pick up in the afternoon and evening, potentially stirring up dust and dirt across large areas of southern Iraq and Kuwait, particularly in desert and open areas. Arab Weather warns of reduced horizontal visibility, which could potentially impact respiratory patients.
And God knows best.
