On the cusp of summer, a cooler air mass will affect the Levant region on Thursday.

Summer is approaching, according to weather forecasts.

With the meteorological start of summer approaching on June 1st, just about 12 days away, the Levant region is preparing to receive remarkable and unusual weather changes for this time of year.

A colder air mass is moving towards the region on Thursday.

Weather forecasts indicate that a colder-than-usual air mass will rush in on Thursday, the 21st of this month, coming from the Mediterranean Sea, Turkey and the European continent towards the Levant, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures in various regions.

A noticeable drop in temperatures

Maximum temperatures are expected to drop to around 20 to 21 degrees Celsius in Amman, Jerusalem and Beirut , which are lower than the normal averages for late May.

Cold weather at night

During the night hours, relatively cool to cold conditions prevail, with minimum temperatures ranging between 11 and 12 degrees Celsius, which necessitates wearing coats, especially over highlands and mountainous areas.

There is a chance of rain in Syria, Lebanon, and limited areas in northern Palestine and Jordan.

This air mass is also accompanied by chances of scattered showers over areas of western and northern Syria, as well as parts of Lebanon, and some showers may extend towards limited parts of northern Palestine and northern Jordan.

A relatively rare phenomenon at the end of May

It is considered relatively rare for the region to be affected by such cold weather in the last days of May, as warmer, hotter and more stable weather usually prevails as summer approaches.
