Public Security: Wadi Araba road completely closed following a major collapse; traffic diverted to the desert highway.

The Public Security Directorate announced the complete closure of the Wadi Araba road as a result of the road being exposed to erosion and total collapse after the area was affected by the prevailing weather conditions.

The directorate explained that the damage was largely concentrated in the “Martyr’s Monument” area, where the street suffered a collapse of about 70 meters, while the resulting erosion reached a depth of 12 meters, which necessitated stopping traffic completely at the site to avoid any risks to the safety of citizens.

Based on these developments on the ground, the security authorities have taken a series of measures to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, as traffic towards Wadi Araba has been closed and all vehicles heading there or to the city of Aqaba have been diverted to take the desert road as an alternative to the collapse area.
