Saudi Arabia | Is it true that the Kingdom will be affected by a strong rainy spell during the first week of the new year?

Arab Weather – Social media activists have been circulating news indicating the possibility of Saudi Arabia being affected by a strong and widespread rain event during the first week of the new year. However, weather experts at the Arab Weather Regional Center have denied the validity of this news, confirming that current weather data does not support the occurrence of a comprehensive rain event during the aforementioned period.

Dry and bitterly cold conditions are expected, coinciding with the extension of the Siberian high-pressure system.

In contrast, the latest computer simulation models indicate that the Kingdom will be gradually affected in the coming days by the extension of the Siberian high-pressure system, which is known to cause dry and stable weather conditions, accompanied by a sharp drop in temperatures, especially during the night and early morning hours.

It is expected – God willing – that the cold air mass will begin to affect the far northeast of the Kingdom on Saturday night, and will extend and reach its peak effect on the northern border regions, Hafr Al-Batin and the north of the Eastern Province on Sunday night and Monday morning, where temperatures are expected to drop below zero degrees Celsius in some of those areas.

In the same context, the regions of Al-Jawf, Hail and Al-Qassim are expected to record temperatures ranging between 2–4 degrees Celsius, while temperatures in the capital Riyadh will be around 8 degrees Celsius, which means that cold to very cold weather will prevail over large areas of the Kingdom, and God knows best.
