Arab Weather - The latest weather map readings, generated by computer simulations at the Arab Weather Center, indicate that Jordan will enter a state of atmospheric instability starting Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2025, especially in the south of the Kingdom. This requires caution regarding the risk of flash floods in those areas.
In detail, the weather forecasting staff at the Arab Weather Center expected that the Kingdom would be affected by a state of atmospheric instability gradually during the day on Sunday, as a result of the rush of a cold air mass in the upper layers of the atmosphere, coinciding with the expansion of the Red Sea depression in the layers of the atmosphere close to the Earth's surface, so that a drop in temperatures occurs, becoming lower than average by about 4-6 degrees Celsius, and unstable weather conditions gradually arise during the afternoon and evening hours in many areas, and thunderstorms of rain fall, especially in the south of the Kingdom, including the city of Aqaba, the Rum area and Wadi Araba. It is not unlikely that these showers will be heavy in some geographical areas and coincide with showers of hail, which will lead to the formation of torrents and heavy flow of valleys and ravines.
During the early evening and night hours, the Kingdom will continue to be affected by atmospheric instability, with showers of varying intensity falling in random areas, especially in the south of the Kingdom. The rain will sometimes be heavy in some narrow geographical areas and accompanied by thunderstorms and occasional hail showers.
These thunderstorms are accompanied by sudden, strong winds that temporarily cause dust storms in the desert regions of the Kingdom.
During the night hours (Sunday/Monday night), night temperatures tend to drop compared to the previous night across the region, and the weather will be cold over the high mountainous areas, and relatively cold in the rest of the regions, with the chance of local rain showers remaining in some areas. Surface humidity levels will rise, and fog will form late at night over the mountainous areas, especially the high ones.
On Monday, May 5, 2025, temperatures will drop by about 5 degrees Celsius below their average for this time of year. The weather will be relatively cold over the high mountainous areas, with clouds appearing at different altitudes. There will be a chance of occasional showers of rain in the north, center, and east of the Kingdom, extending towards some southern regions. It is not unlikely that it will be heavy at times in the eastern desert and may be accompanied by thunder at that time. Fog will also form over the high mountainous areas as a result of low clouds passing in contact with the ground.
During the night hours of Monday/Tuesday, the weather will tend to stabilize with decreasing cloud cover. The weather will turn cold and humid across the region, with the need to wear warmer clothing, God willing.
And God knows best.
