Arab Weather - The latest weather maps indicate that Iraq will be affected by an air mass with varying characteristics over the coming days. This coincides with the end of spring, as June 1 marks the beginning of summer according to the climate calendar. Weather will range from relatively mild in the northern regions to hot to extremely hot in the central and southern regions.
Moderate to relatively hot weather is expected in northern Iraq, such as Erbil, Dohuk, and Sulaymaniyah, while temperatures remain high in the capital, Baghdad, and the rest of the central and southern regions, including Basra, Nasiriyah, and Najaf, where temperatures will approach 44-46 degrees Celsius during daytime hours.
The weather will remain stable in most areas, with the possibility of scattered clouds at medium and high altitudes, especially over the far north of the country. Some models indicate a weak chance of local rain showers in the highlands near the Turkish and Iranian borders.
Active northwesterly winds are blowing across the country, especially in the central Euphrates region and southern Iraq. These winds may stir up dust and dirt locally, leading to a relative decrease in horizontal visibility, especially in exposed desert areas.
During the night hours, the weather is moderate and pleasant in the northern regions, while it remains warm to relatively hot in the rest of the regions, especially in the southern cities, where minimum temperatures range between 27 and 31 degrees Celsius.
And God knows best.
